BookThe best time to coat a car is in the first few weeks, before daily driving leaves its mark. But “new” doesn’t mean “perfect”, and the dealer will probably offer their own protection. Here’s how to handle it.
A new car has sat in a yard, been shipped, transported and washed by a dealer with whatever was handy. By delivery most have transport film residue, rail dust, fallout, and light swirls from the pre-delivery wash. That’s why every car we coat, new or not, gets a decontamination wash, iron remover and clay bar, and our Signature and Platinum packages include a polish before the coating goes on. Coating over contamination seals it in.
Dealer “paint protection” is often a spray sealant applied in the prep bay, priced from several hundred to a couple of thousand dollars and rolled into the finance. Before you sign, ask: what product is it, who applies it, how long does it take, and is the warranty registered to me? If the answers are vague, decline it. A BLASK coating from a certified installer costs about the same or less, with a written warranty in your name. If you’ve already paid for the dealer package, we can still coat the car: it comes off in the decontamination stage.
After. Take delivery, then bring the car to us within the first few weeks. Two reasons: the dealer’s own prep wash would undo anything done before delivery, and you want the car inspected and accepted before anyone else works on it. Book the date now if you know when the car arrives, so the slot is waiting. We take a limited number of cars each week.
Coating and tint can go on your novated lease, but it’s far simpler to arrange before the car is delivered, while the lease is being set up. Choose Novated lease when you book and we invoice your provider directly. How it works.
Signature (5 years) is the usual pick: two layers, one-stage polish and ceramic-coated wheels, for $1,290 to $1,590. If you’re keeping the car 7 to 10 years, Platinum’s 10-year coating works out cheaper per year. Add window tint in the same visit and it’s 10% off. Compare the packages.
Within the first month is ideal. Book before delivery if you know the date, so the slot is ready.
Yes. The decontamination and polish stages remove it before the BLASK coating goes on.
Signature and Platinum prices are the same, because the prep is the same. Less correction is needed on a new car, which means a better final result.
